LUCA HUFF (he/him): PRESIDENT
My name is Luca Huff, I'm a senior at Monticello High School and a proud second-generation Filipino immigrant. In my free time, I enjoy filmmaking, weightlifting, and playing guitar. In addition to being my high school theater department's award-winning videographer, I am involved as an actor, singer, and dancer. I strive to advocate for disadvantaged minorities in my area by way of activism and lobbying for progressive policy. I plan to attend a film school after graduating from high school and make a career in cinematography.
Hi! My name is Ruby, I'm a senior here at Monticello. I play field hockey for MHS and in my free time I read, cook, paint, and go to the gym. I love to travel; my favorite place I've ever been was japan. Some of my favorite things include plants, animals, dessert, aesthetic home interiors, and laughing so hard my stomach hurts. I joined MOYD because there are many changes I think would be beneficial to the US, and being a part of MOYD helps me use my voice to inspire these changes. I hope other young democrats also looking for change will join our organization for this same reason. The youth is the future of America and I think it's really important that we speak up for ourselves and what we believe in.

Hi! I'm Ella and I'm a senior. Some things I really like are old houses, graphic design, and baking. A couple of fun facts about me are that I have never had seafood before, I'm really good at wrapping presents, and I have an irrational fear of lakes. I joined MHS young democrats because I became interested in politics in 2016 and have volunteered for a couple of campaigns since, and I thought young democrats would be a great way to work with other high schoolers on political issues we care about. I would recommend joining MHS young democrats because it's a great way to figure out how you can help to promote change in policies that you believe in.
My name is Maddy Witaconis and I am a junior at Monticello. I work as the social media director, so I am in charge of making all the graphics! In my free time, I love to participate in our theater department, listen to music, research spirituality, watch movies, or most importantly, work towards being a better activist. Local activism is so important to create a more inclusive community and a great way to get involved is by joining MOYD! This group has allowed me to meet so many amazing like-minded individuals and channel my work into something worthwhile.

My name is Cyd Oldham and I am co-director of content creation for Monticello Young Democrats. I have been passionate about politics from a young age but only recently have I found ways to participate. In my free time, I like to play piano, do math, computer program, and bake. As young people, it can be challenging to find ways of getting involved in the topics you're passionate about, and I have found that clubs like this are a perfect way to get started.
Hi, I'm Caroline Landis, senior class director! I love being outdoors and working with kids- I was a full-time nanny during covid and I currently work at atlas coffee shop in town! I joined MHS young democrats because I wanted to be surrounded by like-minded individuals who are working towards social change. Now is the time more than ever to encourage young people to vote, become engaged, and care about politics. Our future and our planet's future is at risk and it is so important to come together in spaces like MHS young democrats to inspire and empower each other to organize and be politically active in our community!

My name is McKenzie Horn and I am currently serving as the 11th grade class director with the Monticello Young Democrats. Some of my hobbies include learning new languages including ASL, French, and German. I also really enjoy reading in my free time and spending time outside. I joined the MHS young democrats club to try and help make a difference in my own community and get involved in social issues. I enjoy this club because of the relationships I've built and the club's willingness to discuss difficult issues. I think you should join if any of the previous statements sound intuiting. Hey, I'm Disha, and I'm a sophomore here at MHS! I play three sports for Monticello including Lacrosse, Field Hockey, and Wrestling. In my free time, I do a lot of reading, and I'm currently binge-watching Friday Night Lights. I'm a huge soccer fan and my top two teams are Liverpool and Real Madrid. The way to my heart is definitely food. Some of my favorites include Lasagna, Chicken, and Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Fudge Brownie ice cream. I joined MHS young democrats because I'm a democrat who wanted to get more involved in the democratic community here in Cville. Anyone who is a young democrat but doesn't know how to get involved should really join the young democrat's because we're an active organization that focuses on helping other young democrats be more involved and make a difference.
